What is the difference between a 10-key and a 17-key kalimba? The 17-key version is the most common and offers a wider range of notes, allowing you to play more complex melodies. The 10-key is smaller and simpler, making it a fantastic, "no-stress" entry point for children or total beginners. How do I tune my kalimba if the notes sound a bit off? Most kalimbas come with a small tuning hammer. If a note is too low (flat), gently tap the tine upward toward the headstock. If it’s too high (sharp), tap it downward. You can use a free chromatic tuner app on your phone to get it perfect. Do I need long fingernails to play the kalimba effectively?
